In 2016 Kirk Franklin won the Gospel Artist of the year from the Dove Awards, an award show that is geared toward white Christian Contemporary Artists. During his acceptance speech he urged the audience to walk in spiritual unity and invited them to pray. The Dove Awards and TBN decided to cut the speech. Kirk expressed his disagreement with the edited version and GMA promised it would never happen again.
This year Kirk again won the Gospel artist of the year award and again he called for racial unity. Again his speech was edited and Kirk took action by launching a boycott. Here is the video.
